Warm orange-gold, like light through resin.

Amber is named after fossilised tree resin, and the colour shares its warm, translucent orange-gold. It is at its best when light passes through it: glass lampshades, window film, a bottle on a sill. As a paint or fabric colour it reads warm and slightly retro, close to burnt orange but softer. It balances cool blues and greens, which is why it appears in so much stained glass. Pair it with walnut and cream for a warm room, or with cobalt and violet for a jewel-toned scheme.
